Join CFE South East and PROWATER for a free workshop offering guidance on water provision and protection in arable, livestock and horticulture, including the latest initiatives and support.

Date: Thursday 28th November 2019

Time: 10am – 3pm (including a light lunch)

Venue: The Fruit Rooms, Hugh Lowe Farms Ltd, Seven Mile Lane, Mereworth Kent ME18 5NE

Water is vital to farming and growing efficiently and competitively, but water availability and quality in the South East are critical. What are the local issues, and what can be done?

Good management of water is essential to protect future resources. Improving water quality, water efficiency, water storage and water reuse will benefit the environment and be part of future farm support.

This workshop will help us build a shared understanding of the issues, and adopt land management solutions that provide multiple benefits.

Speakers at this event include Marion Regan, Hugh Lowe Farms Managing Director, Alan Turner from Kent County Council and Holistic Water for Horticulture, Paul Cobb from FWAG/CFE, Kathi Bauer from South East Rivers Trust and PROWATER and Tom Sewell of Sewell Farms, on:

  • Water resources for farming and growing: building resilience for an uncertain future
  • Regulation, incentives and advice for soil and water protection and management
  • Developing a framework for land managers to be paid for measures that improve water infiltration and storage
  • Water use and management in the Hugh Lowe Farms soft fruit enterprise
  • Managing arable for better soil and water quality and retention on Sewell Farms
This is a FREE event but booking is essential.
