- Jonty Brunyee is General Manager of FarmED, The Centre for Farm & Food Education based in the Cotswolds.
The Centre aims to promote and accelerate the transition towards regenerative farming and sustainable food systems.
Jonty is passionate about regenerative farming, sustainable food and knowledge exchange, and has 25 years of experience in the sustainable farming and environmental sector. He is also a National Trust farm tenant at Conygree Farm (www.conygreefarm.co.uk) in the Cotswolds, producing organic and pasture fed beef and lamb. He won the National Trust’s Farming with Nature Award in 2017. He completed a Nuffield Scholarship in 2016 studying sustainable farming, and is an active member of the Pasture Fed Livestock Association.
- Jimmy Stobart farms in the Eden valley in Cumbria with his brother, Tom. The farm extends to 780 hectares (1927 acres) split into two main blocks, consisting of 100 hectares run on a rotational grazing system and the rest made up of SDA and moorland under a Higher Level Stewardship.
The farm runs 260 wagyu cattle reared on a live weight contract, they are mob grazed throughout the year with half of the cattle being out-wintered. The sheep flock comprises 400 hill ewes, with the replacements wintered at home alongside 200 Texel x ewe lambs.
Jimmy has recently been awarded a Nuffield Scholarship and his topic is ‘Effective monitoring methods that measure ecological outcomes in grazing systems’. He also runs a contract shearing business working on farms throughout Cumbria and the UK.
- Geraint Powell was brought up on a beef and sheep farm near Brecon in Mid Wales where his parents still farm today. Geraint moved to the Cotswolds in December 1999, initially as a livestock foreman on a large mixed estate.
In 2004, he became a self-employed shepherd and fencing contractor. Sixteen years later this has grown to lambing 4000 ewes and calving 50 cows alongside 1700ha of arable land.
Geraint has since moved back to his native Wales to manage an all-grass farm in the Wye Valley. At the core of his business is a strong focus on soil health, animal integration and diverse rotations.
