Farmland birds depend on the availability of both summer and winter food sources as well as breeding and nesting habitat and need a good balance of options spread across the farm.

Crops, grassland, hedges and field margins together with other resources such as winter bird food mixes can provide for birds like yellowhammer, turtle dove and linnet.

Farms can use Countryside Stewardship – including the ‘Farm Wildlife’ packages – or the CFE voluntary measures to help plan and fund actions that will benefit birds.

  • Find more about the Big Farmland Bird Count and how to get involved
  • Hear what farmland birds need and how to provide it
  • Get free bird ID cards and BFBC recording sheets

This is a FREE event but booking is essential.
