NEW warwickshire coordinator in place
19th January 2010
An agricultural and environmental consultant with vast experience is set to help lead the Campaign in Warwickshire.
Chris Britt, an environmental consultant with Britt Vegetation Management, was appointed as the Warwickshire co-ordinator for the Campaign for the Farmed Environment, CFE, in the county.
Mr Britt has taken on the part-time role to help lead the Campaign's promotional activities in the county and encourage arable farmers to implement a range of measures to protect soil and water, farmland birds and other farm wildlife.
This will help to ensure the environmental benefits previously provided by set-aside are not lost and farmers avoid strict regulations, red tape and compulsory measures.
Chris, who has over 25 years' experience of research and consultancy on agricultural and environmental issues, started work in the new role on January 4 and said he was relishing the challenges ahead.
He said: "It is very important that farmers and growers in Warwickshire, and across the country, manage their land in an environmentally sensitive way and that they adopt at least a couple of the measures from the range of ELS and additional voluntary options the campaign is promoting.
"There are many strong reasons for farmers to actively support this initiative and I am looking forward to getting out there and trying to convince as many as possible to make those small changes to their land management that can make such a big difference to the environment."
