Boundaries for birds

Are you interested in the best way to manage hedges and field edges for birds and other wildlife?

Dropswell Farm is a mixed farm growing winter cereals and grass leys to support a small suckler herd. The farm is not participating in any formal agri- environment schemes but has EFA fallow and manages hedgerows on an extended rotation. The farm also has a pellet biomas boiler to heat the farmhouse and other businesses on the farmstead

This talk and farm walk will include:

• A presentation about the different hedgerow management techniques and the benefits to wildlife.

•A discussion about how to identify and enhance farmland bird numbers on your farm with input from RSPB

• A farm walk discussing the management of hedges and EFA land.

•A static demonstration of a TMK tree shear and finger bar hedge trimmer

•An update from Tees Rivers Trust on work in the Skerne Catchement

•Discussion on Stewardship, grant opportunities and CFE voluntary options

•Refreshments
