At this meeting and farm walk, we will look at ways to protect and improve water quality, soil health and structure.

We’ll cover changes to Greening requirements, EFAs and cross compliance in 2018, yard improvements, measures to protect watercourses from pesticides, tree shelter belts, and how to address problems with soil structure.

There will be presentations from a variety of speakers in the morning, followed by a farm walk after lunch.

10.20 am – Andrew Wells, Farming Advice Service - Cross compliance update and common areas of failure, Greening

10.50 am -  Lesley Sharpe, CFE -  The role that woodland planting can play in soil & water conservation, making best use of marginal land and retaining options from expired ELS agreements

11.05 am – Environment Agency speaker tbc - buffer strips and yard improvements – ensuring water and chemicals can co-exist

11.20 am – Rebecca Carter, Anglian Water – Enhanced metaldehyde stewardship guidelines, keeping pesticides out of water.

11.35 am - Short break

11.45 am - Philip Wright - Soil health, including how to identify, prevent and cure soil structure problems according to soil types and the farmed and grass weed issues present.

12.25 pm - Questions
